The Santa Monica Black Lives Association, (SMBLA) is a multi-service, community-based agency established to address the impact of systemic racism in the area’s health, wellness, education, housing and business as it relates to the African American community in Santa Monica. SMBLA will assist all residents and employees in the City of Santa Monica in addressing the impact of systemic racism (trauma, discrimination, isolation and alienation), reduce the disparities and barriers to culturally appropriate resources, reverse the stigma regarding help-seeking, and build healthy coping strategies. SMBLA will offer direct and indirect services designed to improve the quality of life, personal resilience and spiritual foundation of African American residents of Santa Monica.
